Now that all of our paperwork is done, we are currently in the “waiting” phase. It seems like any day we could get the call that could change our family. But many days have passed and we continue to wait. Waiting isn’t always easy, but I find myself at peace knowing there is nothing I can do to change anything. I have complete trust that God is behind the scenes working and will open the right door in His timing.

Yesterday, Filipe sent the following email to our friends. I thought I would share it below so that you could see how/what to pray for with us as we continue to wait.

Hi friends,

It’s been a while since we’ve given you an update on our adoption, but mostly because we haven’t had one to give you. As we told you in our last update, Brazil “suspended” international adoption at the end of last year because of some kind of illegal activity that was going on in the region our agency works in.  We heard there’s been some progress, but the “suspension” has not been lifted yet.

Here are a few ways you can pray for us:

  • Please pray that doors will reopen soon in Brazil for international adoptions to proceed.
  • Pray that God would prepare us for our future kids and prepare them for our home.
  • Pray that the timing would be just right, that nothing would get in the way of God’s will being accomplished.
  • Pray that the remaining funds we need after the “referral” is processed comes in.

Thank you for giving toward our adoption! This journey has been another big reminder to our family that when God calls you to do something, He provides for it.  Thank you for being his instruments. With the $32,000 dollars that you together gave, we have been able to pay for almost every fee and expense this far in the process of our adoption.  We now estimate only needing about $10-15,000 more to cover remaining fees and travel expenses to and from Brazil (law requires us to be in country for 40 days when adopting).

We will continue to post updates as there is something new to share.
