When we found out I was pregnant with Efraim there were some pretty big changes we had to make as a family.

Our two bedroom apartment wasn’t going to cut it anymore

AND

Our Ford Escape wasn’t going to cut it as our only mode of transportation.

For the first 8 months of my pregnancy we (mainly Filipe) convinced ourselves that it was possible to fit 3 car seats across the back seat with no problem (whether we can or not is still up for debate), however, then I started imagining family vacations or just driving to the grocery store.  I was already saying “keep your hands to yourself” enough without adding an infant to the row.  So, we started talking about how “wise” it would be and if we were going to do it, now was the time.

Finally, Filipe caved and we started shopping for minivans and two weeks before Efraim was born we bought a Honda Odyssey (used of course!).  It is far from my dream car, and once the kids are out of car seats and we can get in and out in a decent way we will re-evaluate the need.  But, for now, I think I’ve become the stereotypical soccer mom (and boy do I hate fitting stereotypes).

So, I came across this video and it made me feel a little “cool” in my minivan (although it’s not as cool as this one!).
