5 years ago, Lily came into our lives.

We didn’t know a whole lot, but we sure did have a lot of love, and a whole lot of hopes & dreams for this little girl.

With each passing year, she grew more and more.

And so did we.

From the earliest days of toddlerhood, I began preparing her (& me) for the day she would be going off to school- not knowing where that would be.  But instead of learning letters & numbers, we started with things like focusing skills & self-control.

Last fall, we continued preparing her even more, and took her to preschool twice a week.
She loved it, and we watched her soar throughout the year!

As that year progressed, I began seeking God more and more about where Lily should go to school.  At first I felt pretty lost in the process.  From homeschooling options to the neighborhood public school & lottery systems, I wasn’t even sure what direction to go.

But I think one of the coolest things about God is that when we are seeking him, He leads us right where He wants us to go.
It’s like He clears away all of the excess and makes His will impossible to miss.
Even when it seems dark & difficult, I’m learning that His will is worth far more than my comfort.

So as we started our journey into the public elementary school today,
I believe we are right where God wants us.

If you were to ask me 5 years ago if I would send my daughter to a California public school, I would have said, “no way!”.
But as she left the house today, I was 100% sure that we were doing the right thing,
and I’m excited for the new opportunities we will experience through it.

When I picked her up from school, she was full of smiles and many stories to tell.

Let the journey begin…
