In preparation for their second preview service we spent a few days just loving on the city. We walked miles putting door-hangers on doors. We passed out gum at the Metro, water bottles in the park, and payed for dozens of people’s coffee/donuts at Tim Hortons.
Come Sunday morning we served in different areas for the worship experience.
Throughout our time in Montreal we also practiced our french, tasted fresh croissants, and enjoyed the sights of a new country. While much of Montreal is very different from Silicon Valley, from a ministry perspective we share many similarities.
Montreal is a city where less than one percent of the people have a personal relationship with God. It is very diverse with people from many cultures and backgrounds sharing one city.
But God is working;
His Spirit is alive there.
Revival is coming.
Pastor Chris McGregor and his wife Yanci are an amazing couple leading City Church. Listening to them share the vision God has given them was truly inspiring. They have been so faithful in obeying God, and I can’t wait to see what God does through them and through City Church.
Share Life, Shine Light is their tagline. I love the imagery of sharing life together and shining bright for Jesus. Beautiful.
I feel so honored for the opportunity to be a part of this trip. I needed this time to step back and remember what it was like to be back at the beginning. To remember what it was like when we started South Bay Church.
Church planting isn’t an easy journey. It is a lot of hard work, commitment, and sacrifice. And there’s no guarantee it will work. But after getting through the early stage with South Bay, I can confidently say, it is worth it.
It is worth it to see families changed.
It is worth it to see marriages restored.
For every life changed, it is worth it.
What I love most about church planting is seeing churches come together and support one another. When there is unity in the Body of Christ I believe God is honored and people will take notice. I’m so thrilled that South Bay Church has partnered with City Church to be a part of God’s work in Montreal.
Just getting to be a part of it all?
