If you’ve followed me for any significant amount of time, you aren’t surprised when I suddenly announce a new lifestyle change- whether it be the kinds of food I buy, do-it-yourself household cleaners, or personal body care. These things usually come from a newfound belief- whether it be new health studies, ethical practices, or a personal revelation as how I can live a more honest, healthy lifestyle.
As I learn, I try to share as much as I can with you, dear readers, and hopefully we can all live a more healthy, honest lifestyle.
Over a year ago I studied up on conventional deodorant and wanted to find one free of chemicals. I had heard plenty of random facts and began studying up on sweat and deodorant. I learned a lot I wish I’d know twenty years ago. I won’t go into too much detail- if you like the facts, feel free to search google. There’s no shortage of information out there.
A few things I learned:
- Sweating is good for the body.
- Aluminum is not good for the body.
- Body odor has more to do with what we eat and put into our body. (The chemicals you put into your body will be released from your body.)
I found all of my ingredients at Whole Foods and used Young Living essential oils I already had. When I buy ingredients again, I will buy already grated beeswax from Amazon- it’s my least favorite part of the process and doesn’t wash off your knife/grater very easily.
Below you will find my deodorant recipe. I’ve adapted it from a few others I found, mixing and matching what I like and what I had available.
*I double this recipe and both my husband and I use it.
**Please note: Results may vary. May need to reapply throughout the day depending on your weather/activity level.
