I just love Marilyn Meberg. I’ve attended a couple of Women of Faith events over the years, but never picked up a book until now (I don’t know why I waited so long!). I enjoyed this book so much.

What I love most about Marilyn is her wisdom. Just like when she is speaking, she writes with incredible depth and understanding all while keeping you laughing along the way. It’s a gift from God, I’m sure of it.

What first drew me to this book was the title, Constantly Craving. It speaks of what most of us experience without the condemnation. I’ve often had feelings of dissatisfaction and not being content with life. I’ve had cravings for things that I didn’t know where they came from. In these moments, I have beat myself up for it, felt guilty about it, committed to do better, but nothing seemed to work.

Marilyn does a great job of explaining where cravings come and why we are wired with them. Cravings aren’t wrong, it’s what we do when we crave that can get us into trouble. Marilyn speaks of different areas of life including marriage and friendship, happiness and contentment. She then takes the reader along a process in understanding how to direct our desire for more and find the meaning we all long for.

My favorite chapter by far was Chapter 10 about finding your purpose. She says, “The God-given meaning for life comes with the desire for purpose in life. Meaning is about being; purpose is about doing.” Wow, so good.

Constantly Craving helped me understand more clearly why we crave and how I can direct them to honor God and fulfill His calling in my life. I don’t want spoil any more so go get one and you can read more of where that good stuff came from.
