I love a good worship service at church. No matter what I’m going through, or what I didn’t get to during the week, something in the atmosphere changes during worship. Or maybe it’s just my heart and attitude that changes.

When I worship, I’m able to focus on the present. For a few minutes, past worries disappear, anxieties fade. And even though I’d rather avoid some things, it’s nice to linger longer in moments of praise, worship, and wonder. To let time stand still for a little while and remember who is in control of all of this. Who I’ve given control of me.

When I read I Chronicles 16, I can’t help but feel like I’m getting a glimpse of one incredible worship service. There are so many attributes of God spoken of, it can seem overwhelming as to how great and how good God is. And when we see just a glimpse of who He is, our natural response is one of awe and thanks. For no one can compare.

In this chapter, we see King David encouraging the people of Israel to “give thanks”. Why? Because “He is good” and “his love endures forever”. David appointed Asaph as a leader among the people and these were some of the words he gave them for the people- for the Church. These words have been spoken, sung, and repeated over and over since. How incredible is that?!

No matter what you’re going through, make space to worship God this week. See how it might change your week.
